Rates of Sexually Transmitted Infections are currently rising the quickest in the over 55 age group. It was in response to this statistic that 50 Shades of Gran was created to challenge some of the taboos surrounding sexuality and sexual health in later life. The project worked in collaboration with Wheel Meet Again Liverpool, where over the course of 6 weeks a group of women shared stories and discussed the issues relating to the project. The performance was devised and performed by Rachael as a one-woman show, created from the oral testimonies collected from the women at Wheel Meet Again. Using performance, audience participation and discussion, the project aimed to use theatre as a vehicle to explore challenging subejcts and to break the silence around sexual health in later life.
